Those are interesting points. I agree that just because something fails doesnt mean its useless. I’ve failed at a ton of stuff, including some web projects, and I hope people dont consider me useless. You should also check out the Pew Internet site for some stats on AA and Latino computer usage. Its not what you believe it is.

On the other hand, I cant think of one “black site” I visit everyday or find particularly useful. WordPress, Reader, Twitter, Linkedin, Facebook, HuffingotnPost, TheOnion and the Root cause I like to pretend I’m edumacated by parroting Jimi I., Omar W., Gary D. and yes even Skip G. I agree he is an intelligent man, how else can you perpetually convince people to part with their money for your (insert culturally uplifting and self-promoting media venture here) against their natural inclinations.

Do you like or support any black websites. Just something fails is not indicative that it is useless, ie Africana.com. Let’s not forget, the majority of households within the Black and Latino communities do not have computers. One just has to look at the educational system to see the technological divide. Instead of sitting back and blogging about what a mess these sites are, why not use your talent and do something about it. If you are, please forgive me.

Skip Gates is an intelligent man who is using his influence to uplift and empower Black people. Are you doing the same?

I put my paypal in front of my credit card for most online transactions and it works safely till now. If they don’t accept paypal, it would be better to get alternate payment methods. If not, get a specific cards with low limits for these kind of temporary transactions. I myself, if they don’t accept paypal, I would skip any transactions unless the product is absolutely essential for me.
